He won the match by unanimous decision, the Independent publication has reported.

The match was every inch a mental one, as it was a physical one with Joshua displaying an intelligent boxing strategy.

Unlike last time where he lost to Ruiz, this time round he decided not to engage the Mexican at close quarters, and it worked perfectly well for him.

“This is about boxing, I’m used to knocking guys out, and last time I realised I hurt the man and I got caught coming in,” Joshua said immediately after his win as quoted by the Independent.

“No excuses. So I wanted to put on a masterclass and show the sweet science of this sport, hitting and not getting hit," he added.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that anything else other than a clear win would have left Joshua's boxing career in tatters.

He now reclaims the world heavyweight titles with that win; the IBF, WBA and the WBO.

Ruiz beat Joshua when the two boxers met six months ago, but the tables turned in Riyadh.

Two judges gave Joshua 119-110 and 119-109 according to the Washington Post.
