Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura has claimed that ODM leader Raila Odinga and his allies are not happy with the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Speaking on Radio Jambo on Saturday, he termed this the reasons why the politicians now want the document again taken to the people for public participation.

According to Mutura, chances are that the group is not contented with the details of the report, after their demands were left out, and are looking for a way to force their views in.

He, however, noted that the document is good in its current state, as it touches on issues affecting Kenyans, and cannot be amended to impress a few political players.

"The report must touch on issues affecting Kenyans, they should not expect an impressive love letter, that we will not allow (Ripoti lazima iangazie mambo ya wakenya, wasitarajie iandikwe kama barua ya mapenzi eti iwafurahishe, hiyo tunekataa)," he said.

Therefore, he opposed the extension of the BBI taskforce on Wednesday, an order that was, however, the working of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila's co-founder in the BBI.

According to Mutura, while there is a need to implement the document quickly through the parliament, Kenyans should have been allowed to read it over before the extension.

"We have not even read the report but again we are being handed more issues (Sasa hata hatujapitia ripoti yenyewe tayari tunaletewa mambo mengine)," he added.

Speaking after the term extension, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena said that the team will spearhead the public participation of the report, set for early next year.
