Reports indicate that some of the men behind the "Senate coup" include outspoken Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu,  Paul Koinange ( Kiambaa), Amos Kimunya ( Kipipiri) and Muturi Kigano ( Kangema).

Koinange and Kimunya are veterans in Mt. Kenya politics while Ngunjiri is a rising star, who has been one of the fiercest defenders of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the Nyeri Town lawmaker, Jubilee MPs holding crucial leadership positions in both National Assembly and Senate should pack and go before February.

" Any Jubilee MP who occupies leadership position in either the Senate or National Assembly is on notice. If you are not aligned with the President's agenda; if you don't agree with the fight against corruption or support BBI, pack and leave before February," the lawmaker is quoted.

Murkomen, Washiali and Kihika are loyal supporters of the Deputy President William Ruto and have of late been very critical of the country's leadership and have openly criticized the BBI which they claim has hidden political agenda.
