Here are some facts you need to know about the Wiper MP:

1. Born in 1968

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui was born on 29 August 1968 in Kathiani, Machakos County.

2. Fifth Kathiani MP

Mbui is the fifth legislator to represent Kathiani constituency. Since the creation of constituencies in 1988, Kathiani has had five MPs. Mbui took over from Wavinya Ndeti in 2013 as she ventured into the Machakos County gubernatorial race. Other former Kathiani MPs include; Laban Maingi, Jackson Mulinge, and Peter Kyalo.

3. Late general Mulinge's grandson

Mbui is the grandson of the former Chief of General Staff, the late General (RTD) Jackson Mulinge and Lesa Mutethya. Jackson Mulinge died in June 2014. The late Mulinge is credited for playing a major role in quelling the infamous 1982 attempted military coup on Moi’s government. Mbui is married to Janet Mbui and is blessed with three children; Carlton, Shawn, and Lakita.

4. Pushed for dissolution of NACADA

When four people died in Kathiani Constituency after allegedly consuming illicit brew in 2014, Mbui called for the dissolution of the National Authority for Campaigns and Drug Abuse (NACADA). He claimed the Authority had failed to end alcohol-related deaths.

5. Holds a Masters Degree in Strategic Management

Robert Mbui holds a Masters Degree in Strategic Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. He sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Kathiani Boys, Machakos County in 1989.
