The Coastal city is among best destination for tourists, not just in Kenya but in Africa at large.

Among so many tourist attraction features in the region, sand beaches are located at shores of the Indian Ocean.

Beaches have been recording an increased number of daily visitors ever since the festive month of December started, and with all schools closed, huge crowds are being witnessed in most of the public beaches.

Some beaches which are recording many visitors to a level of overcrowding are:

1. Bamburi Beach

Also known as Jomo Kenyatta Public beach is commonly known as 'Pirates’ beach among many residents, it is located about 10 km from Mombasa CBD. It is the largest public beach in Mombasa, or rather in Kenya, and with the fact that it charges no entry fee and its ideal location along the busy Malindi-Mombasa Road, the beach is actually overcrowding. If you are planning for private beach life during this holiday, then exclude this beach from your plans.

2. Diani Beach

Located about 30km from Mombasa CBD to the South Coast, it is among the top beaches in Africa, and also a public beach. Most white tourists who visit the Coast of Kenya rarely end their tours without visiting Diani. Several beach parties are being held along this beach, including artists' shows, making it another overcrowded beach. However, it is a nice place to visit, and one of the cleanest beaches.

3. Shelly Beach

Located in densely populated Likoni Constituency, adjacent to recently innovated Mama Ngina Waterfront, which is also close to the Kenya Ferry Services, the beach is currently being overcrowded. School going children are the majority at this beach. Privacy is totally limited at this beach, and your plans for this holiday is to be alone and your family, then go for private beaches.
