According to Kinoti, the persons in question have been the force behind a series of scandals at the port, which is under the watch of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The revelation comes after the DCI dispatched its detectives from Nairobi to the Port to investigate the said cases, with Kinoti saying that the criminals have been identified.

"We have established a number of authors of economic crime at the port and we aren’t finished yet as we want to nail the last culprit,” he said on Monday.

The top sleuth added that plans are in place to have the said persons subjected to the law, adding that his directorate will not be swayed by the interruption likely to be witnessed.

Among the scandals being probed is Sh94 million concrete works supply tender touching on a senior KPA official, which was aborted at the last moment.

According to the Standard, the DCI was to interrogate a middle-level manager, who was, however, told to leave immediately after he sat down for questioning.

Kinoti now says that all the involved persons will soon be regretting their actions, though he did not make any revelations about when Kenyans should expect arrests.

"The day of gnashing of teeth and regret for the plunder of public money is coming," said the chief detective.
