Powerful Interior PS Karanja Kibicho has for the first time linked the ongoing confusions in Mt Kenya region to Deputy President William Ruto and the Tanga Tanga brigade.
For the last 18 months, Mt Kenya region has witnessed political hostility, with politicians divided into two factions, pushing different agendas.
The Tanga Tanga team supports Dr Ruto's 2022 presidential bid while the Kieleweke team purports to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's development agenda.
On Friday, Dr Kibicho dismissed Tanga Tanga brigade, accusing members of being used to divide Mt Kenya region for their own political gains.
"They (Tanga Tanga), do not have any development agenda. We know how the government works. They are dividing Mt Kenya region for political reasons," he charged.
Dr Kibicho has often been accused by Tanga Tanga team of sponsoring rivals Kieleweke to counter them across Mt Kenya region.
Recently, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro accused the PS of instructing police to arrest him following fracas at a Catholic Church in his constituency.
"I know the police boss (Kibicho) is after me. I don't think as far as recording statement is concerned, would help me fight a political war.
"I am 100% sure this happening because of my association with Ruto. PS Kibicho is punishing me for supporting Ruto. Uhuru is a well-meaning man but the people he appointed are playing politics," he stated.
In July, President Uhuru Kenyatta also warned Tangatanga MPs from the region of allegedly undermining him, adding that he was ready to crush them.
