The Mulembe Nation will not back ODM party leader Raila Odinga in any other presidential contest, Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has said.
Speaking in Kakamega town on Monday, Echesa said that the Former Prime Minister betrayed the Luhya community.
He insisted that the leaders, as well as people from the Western Region, are no longer ready to gamble their lives with someone who will not change their lives.
The politician noted that his tribesmen stood with Raila several times but all they have are regrets.
He also pleaded with the local leaders to guide the community to rally behind someone who will bring change to the region and not Raila.
"We are tired of gambling with the lives of our people, we have supported him more than enough without any return. He promised you that he was taking you to a land of milk and honey only for him to join his foes,” he said, as quoted by Standard.
He also said that Raila has ensured that his backyard benefits from the fruits of independence. Echesa went ahead to highlight some of the projects the government has initiated at Raila’s backyard including industries and roads.
Echesa, however, remained coy on whether he is going to stand with Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
