Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has had deep-rooted political differences with the DP hence he may not be part of his political equation.

So, with the two Governors teaming up after Wednesday meeting, the DP may have to go back to the political drawing board. Will these men counter Joho-Kingi wave heading into the 2022 presidential race?

Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya will no doubt play a big role in Ruto’s State House journey.

As Jubilee’s commander-in-chief in the pro-opposition county, Mvurya’s growing influence may play a big role in swinging Kwale to the Jubilee formation. For the DP, he should hold onto his big political asset.

As the iron lady of Coast politics, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa is in her own political class and after openly declaring her intention to support the DP in 2022, it remains to be seen whether she will make a hasty retreat and follow Joho and Kingi. But if she sticks with Ruto, the DP stands to benefit most.

After defying all odds to win Kisauni MP Seat, Ali Mbogo is emerging as a big political voice in Coast. And being a Ruto disciple, the lawmaker may prove to be Joho’s biggest headache.

Then there is Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, another smart political survivor.  Besides him, there is Msambweni legislator Suleiman Dori who has of late been rocking the ODM boat.
