The National Governing Council argues that the suspects are likely to interfere with the evidence if they are left in office any longer.

On Saturday, KUSU Secretary General Dr Charles Mukhwaya said that it will be easier for those with information on how the funds allocated to the public institution were misused to disclose the same if the members resign from office.

Mukhwaya, who spoke in Nakuru, said that the board members are on spot over the abuse of office and fraud among other charges in relations to the saga.

“The union calls for the resignation of the Council members as this will facilitate the investigations as staff with evidence against the suspects will feel free to volunteer the same to investigators,” said Mukhwaya, as quoted by Standard.

He reiterated that the volunteers feel threatened to share information about the scandal because of the officers.

The union has also urged Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to speed up probe into the matter to ensure the public funds are recovered as soon as possible.

This comes after some of the board members raised concern over their safety following the suspension of the VC. The witnesses also fear that they are likely to be victimised.
