The former Prime Minister has been working closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta since their March 2018 truce, to the disapproval of allies of Deputy President William Ruto.

But Kihara, an ally of Ruto, now says that they have no problem working with Raila, on grounds that it does not affect the relationship that was in place between the president and the DP.

"It's doable joining hands between Uhuru, Ruto and Raila under the leadership of the president. (Kama tunataka kushikana mikono Uhuru, Ruto na Raila tukiongozwa na Rais it's doable)," she said on Radio Citizen, Wednesday night.

The MP also expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation where the entrance of Raila seems to be pushing Ruto out of the equation.

She said that as it appears now, Uhuru seems to be abandoning his deputy, who came long before Raila, which should not be the case.

"We will be undoing the handshake if we will demean the other. Holding hands doesn't mean that we abandon the one we shook hands with initially. (Lakini kama tutadharau mwingine itavunja salamu. Kushikana mikono haimaanishi tutenge yuke tulisalimiana naye mbeleni)," Jayne Kihara noted.

The president has been seen to sideline Ruto in favour of Raila lately, with the DP appearing unwanted within Uhuru's circles.
