Mr Echesa was in the company of Kakamega leaders under the stewardship of former Senator Boni Khalwale and Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali.

The leaders, who have been championing for election of DP Ruto in 2022 as president, discussed matters to do with development.

"Today the top leadership of Kakamega County @JubileePartyK, held morning long consultations with the DP, @WilliamsRuto at his office. Agenda: Development Projects in Kakamega," said Khalwale.

But in the last few months, cracks have been reported in Ruto's Western Kenya campaign team, with Echesa snubbing most of the DP's functions.

At some point, Echesa, who was uncomfortable with the entry of Khalwale in Team Ruto, was seen campaigning along Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, a fierce critic of Khalwale and Ruto.

It is not clear whether the differences informed Wednesday's meeting at Harambee House Annex. Khalwale has been vocal in Ruto's team, eclipsing those who have been introducing that DP in Western.

When he was sacked, Echesa asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider giving him that reason behind his dismissal. The president has remained mum.

"I am cool and also want to urge my supporters and Luhyas to remain calm. I remain grateful to the President for offering me an opportunity to serve in his cabinet, said Echesa.

"It is within President Kenyattas mandate to hire and fire but still I would also want to know what happened (why I was sacked), he further said.

Dr Ruto had poached Echesa from Raila Odinga's ODM, where he served as ODM Youth Leader leader countrywide.
