Kenya needs a person who can steer it to success, as the best one to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after his retirement in 2022, political analyst Mark Bichachi has said.

Already, the 2022 presidential contest debate is gathering momentum, with some politicians, including Deputy President William Ruto, having already declared interest.

Bichachi says that Uhuru's successor must be a person out to free the nation from the chains of tribalism it is currently held in, and not a person who is after power for the sake of it.

In an article on the Standard on Wednesday, he warns that the nation needs an anti-corruption champion, failure to which the effort that has been put in taming the dragon will be undone.

The commentator is of the idea that the person must be clean from graft, and Kenyans need to shun people already battling claims of theft and graft, however small what they allegedly stole.

Bichachi, also a communication consultant, wants Kenyans to settle on a person who can accomplish the visions of former President Mwai Kibaki and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He has proposed that the person must be able to uphold both the Vision 2030 and the Big 4 Agenda, while at the same time coming up with another long-term beneficial agenda.

He wants Kenyans to avoid charlatans, further noting that many of those already eyeing the seat appear not to fit in the qualifications Kenyans should be looking for.

Also expected to be in the race are Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula.
