Uasin Gishu County Assembly has approved Sh8.4 billion county budget for the financial year 2019/2020.

This is after the Finance CEC Julius Ruto tabled the budget before the Assembly on Tuesday. 

Speaking to the press after reading the budget, Ruto said that he targets to raise Sh900m from local revenues.

"Sh6.2 billion will be gotten from equitable share from Commission of Revenue allocation, Sh1.4 billion from donors and Sh900 million from local revenues," said the Uasin Finance CEC.

The health sector got Sh360 million meant to improve health services.

"Devolution Ministry got Sh85 million for the completion of sub-county offices in Kapseret, Ainabkoi and Moiben," he added. 

He further said the education sector will get Sh108 million for the building of ECDE centres, Sh116 million for Vocational Training Centers in order support skill development for the youth and further Sh127 million for equipping the VTCs and an additional Sh60 million was set aside for the construction of Chakaiya High Altitude Training field.

Further Sh14 million was set aside for upgrading of playgrounds within the sub-counties around.

The roads department got Sh600 million while the water department got Sh600 million too.

The agriculture department got Sh300 million.
