Beatrice Kang'ethe allegedly stabbed herself using a knife in the abdomen in the bathroom of her house within Migwani Township, with the reasons behind her actions yet to be established.

The incident was confirmed by Migwani Sub Location Assistant Chief Jeffrey Nzailo, who said that she was found by her daughter, before the police were called in.

Nzailo said that the lady actually doubled her efforts to kill herself when neighbours were alerted by the daughter, and could be seen attempting to drive the knife deeper.

He added that the administrator could not speak at the time.

“She could not talk but she was stretching her hand and tried to plunge the knife deeper into her body," he told the Standard on Friday.

The incident was also confirmed by area police boss Daniel Mumasaba, with the people close to her expressing shock, saying that she had not shown any signs of being troubled.

He, however, did not reveal if a probe has been launched into the matter.

Area Deputy County Commissioner Hezron Koech could not be reached for his comments on the same matter.
