The DP, who also enjoys a handsome backing from some leaders in the region has been appearing to be making steady steps in the region, ahead of his 2022 presidential bid.

Thanks to the support he enjoys from a section of area politicians, it was quite clear that he would scoop some votes in the elections, but this seems to be no longer the case.

Consequently, rallies to popularize him have been ending up in chaos, apparently planned by his critics, the latest being the 'Inua Mama' function two weeks ago in Nyeri Town.

Some of the leaders who have been popularizing his name, the likes of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, are also being targeted for graft, slightly incapacitating them.

Others, especially allies of the pro-President Uhuru Kenyatta 'Kieleweke' and Embrace have also been seen endorsing his rival and possible competitor in 2022, Raila Odinga.

This has been seen as a weapon that might weaken him, considering that they both have a history with Mt Kenya leaders, Raila's dating back to independence.

Such include Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who a week ago claimed that the Mt Kenya region would readily accept Raila if he were to come looking for their votes.

Other leaders who have been seen supporting him previously have also begun avoiding him, including Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi who snubbed his tour of the region last week.

And while he might argue that he was engaged somewhere, it becomes questionably that he was absent in all the functions for the two days the DP pitched camp in the county.
