The report also revealed that the County government spent only 32.2% of the Sh8 billion development budget in the financial year 2018/2019 that ended on June 30.

According to the Chairman of Budget and Appropriations Committee Joel Karuri, the treasury will spend Sh4.6 billion on recurrent expenditure, Sh6.1 billion on wages and Sh10.5 billion on development in the financial year 2019/2020.

"The Department of Health took the lion’s share of the budget at 31.1 per cent followed by the Department of Lands, Housing and Physical Planning at 13 per cent and the Department of Infrastructure at 11.9 per cent," Joel Karuri states as quoted by The Standard Media.

Joel Karuri went ahead to explain how much had been allocated to other departments.

“The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources took eight per cent, Education and ICT seven per cent, Finance and Economic Planning 6.2 per cent and the county assembly was allocated 5.8 per cent,” Karuri explained as quoted by The Standard Media.

The development funds have been raised to Sh10.5 billion despite the fact that only 32.2% of the Sh8 billion allocated to development projects was used in the last financial year.
