The Kenyan international scored the winning goal in 75th minute via a header. “Thank you Lord for the goal. All glory is yours,” said Olunga after the match.

Matheus Savio had put Kashiwa in front in the 8th minute at the Transcosmos Stadium Nagasaki, before Hiroto Goya equalized for Nagasaki in the 50th minute.

It is now a 10th successive win for Olunga’s team in league as the race promotion to the Japanese topflight league continues to take shape.

The team is top of the second division league with 58 points after 28 matches, a massive 7 points ahead of second placed Kyoto which has 51 points after the same number of matches.

The Kenyan striker has now scored 12 goals this season. Last weekend, he scored three goals as his side thrashed Renofa Yamaguchi 4-1. It was his first hat-trick in Japan.

He joined Kashiwa in August last year, after turning up for various teams among them Tusker FC, Gor Mahia, Thika United and Girona in Spain.
