Already, three governors have been locked out of office over allegations of involvement in corruption, with the vocal senator now saying that more similar cases are in the channel.

In an interview on K24 on Sunday, Cherargei stated the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) is probing more graft cases involving governors, drawn from across the political divide.

"The DPP is yet to tell Kenyans that there are many governors, both in Jubilee and Nasa, who may be involved in corruption," said the lawmaker.

The latest case and which remains a national topic is that of Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, who was on Wednesday charged with numerous corruption charges.

However, Cherargei defended the ruling Jubilee Party, on whose ticket Sonko was elected, from the blame of being responsible for the crisis Nairobi county is finding itself in.

"I don't think the issue of Jubilee arises here. I don't see Jubilee politics being played here. This has nothing to do with Jubilee wrangles," added the outspoken legislator.

Pundits have blamed Jubilee for failing to look into Sonko's leadership credentials and qualifications before handing him the nomination in 2017, hence the current situation.
