She had been named the Kenyan 'Iron Lady' for her no-nonsense approach she made while serving as the first lady.

It was in May 2005 when the then-first lady Lucy Kibaki furiously had a clash with World Bank's country director Makhtar Diop over the loud music Mr. Diop was playing.

Mr. Diop was hosting a private party to finally end his stay in Kenya before he was confronted by Lucy.

When the news was covered by the Nation Media Group, the then first lady stormed into Nation Centre demanding that the writer of the story of her clashing with Mr. Diop is arrested.

Lucy Kibaki happened to be the first public figure to openly harass a journalist.

She slapped a journalist identified as Clifford Derick after the man filmed her while she was storming at the Nation Centre.

After rumors of Kibaki having a second wife emerged, Lucy summoned her husband to convene an urgent press conference and clear the air by declaring his monogamous status.

During the 2007 Jamhuri Day dinner at State House, she mercilessly slapped a master of ceremony.

The MC had mistakenly introduced the first lady as Lucy Wambui instead of Lucy Muthoni Kibaki.

She was also alleged to have slapped State House comptroller Matere Keriri.

The incident was later cleared by Keriri himself saying the First Lady had become uncomfortable with his closeness to the President.
