Mariga had already secured Jubilee Party ticket but his bid was shattered on Tuesday after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared he could not vie since his name was not on voters' register.

Junet, who is leading Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) campaigns in Kibra, apparently revisited Mariga's job as Betin Ambassador and ridiculed him that 'too much gambling is bad'.

The MP described Kibra as an ODM zone and said it was a gamble for the former Inter Milan midfielder to declare his bid in the parliamentary race.

"Being ambitious is one thing. Knowing when and where to launch your ambition is another. Too much gambling is bad. It is no wonder the government of H.E Uhuru Kenyatta recently banned gambling in our country. Kibra ni ODM," he tweeted.

Junet, who is also the director of elections in ODM, further hit out at Mariga over allegations he has never registered as a voter.

"Let’s support the initiatives of our government that ensures young people promote responsible activities like participating in the democratic life of their country (being registered voters with a track record of voting) rather than gambling. Kibra ni ODM," he added.

Meanwhile, Mariga's camp led by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale maintains he is a registered voter and has vowed to appeal his disqualification at the IEBC Disputes Tribunal.
