He said one of them is ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga who has been fighting the tag, owing to the fact that his father Jaramogi Oginga was the founding vice President.

But Koigi now says that Raila is indeed part of the few dynasties of Kenya, and has only his father's name to thank for his political success.

He said the same applies to President Uhuru Kenyatta whose father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta served as the first Prime Minister and President of Kenya for 15 years.

"Truth is that they are where they are because of inheritance. Their children will also inherit them (Ukweli ni eti wamefika waliko kwa sababu ya uridhi na watoto wao pia watawaridhi)," he said.

Wamwere made the remarks in an interview on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening.

He advised Kenyans to now shift their focus to a different type of leaders, and stop blindly electing leaders on grounds that their families have been on the scene for long.

He urged Kenyans to embrace those who don't have big names, terming the recycling of prominent political families the main reason behind the nation's woes.

"Its not right for Kenyans to allow them to remain there without opting for others, even if they are poor. (Ni makosa kubwa wakenya wanawakubalia wawe pale bila kuangalia kama kuna wengine, hata kama ni masikini)," he added.
