The current Kenya Premier League (KPL) season enters the 9th week this weekend, with Gor Mahia versus perennial rivals AFC Leopards being the highlight of weekend action.
The two arch-rivals will meet at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani in Nairobi on Sunday starting 3PM in the first 'Mashemeji Derby' of the 2019/2020 season.
The match promises to provide fodder for a close contest, given the fact that the county’s two soccer giants head into the match with the same points’ tally.
Gor Mahia is placed second on the KPL log with 15 points after six rounds of matches, while AFC Leopards is 3rd with the same 15 points but having played 8 matches so far.
Tusker FC is the top team with 16 points after taking to the pitch 8 times. Leopards’ last outing was a 0-0 draw against Soldiers Ulinzi Stars on November 02, while Gor Mahia lost by a solitary goal against 2008 Champions Mathare United on November 06. It was Gor Mahia’s first loss of the season.
Gor Mahia defeated AFC Leopards 3-1 when the sides last met in a league encounter in May this year. AFC Leopards last defeated Gor Mahia in a league match in March 2016.
Here are all the KPL matches lined up this weekend:
