The aftermath of his demeaning words to the girl, Jackline Chepngeno led to suicide. Chepngeno hanged herself.

The girl was found last Friday dead, the same day her teacher publicly embarrassed her.

The female MPs, led by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris demanded that the teacher should face legal action.

“Together with fellow Women MPs, we’ve laid siege at the Ministry of Education in protest of the 14-year-old girl who committed suicide,” said Passaris as quoted by Citizen Digital

Passaris was in the company of Gathoni Wamuchomba (Kiambu), Wangui Ngirici (Kirinyaga), and Florence Chepng’etich Koskey (Kericho) among others.

They met Education CS George Magoha, with whom they discussed this matter at length.

The CS agreed to investigate this matter.

"Grateful to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha for agreeing to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of a student in Bomet due to period shaming. I look forward to the outcome of your inquest & to the release of sanitary towels to schools across the country," Passaris tweeted thereafter.
