Writing on Twitter on Friday, the weatherman said that the Southwestern parts of the country would be subjected to light rainfall on Saturday.

Other parts of the country, the weatherman said, would be brighter as they will enjoy sunny spells from Sunday all the way to Wednesday.

"Light rainfall is expected over few places over Southwestern parts of the country on Saturday. Mainly sunny intervals is expected to prevail from Sunday to Wednesday over most parts of the country, " the meteorological department said in its Friday tweet.

Nairobi will, by and large, receive light showers.

"For Nairobi, Light showers expected over few areas in Westlands, Dagoretti, Kibra, & Langata on Saturday afternoon," it added.

The update will be music to the ears of a section of Kenyans who were wary of torrential rains that pummeled various parts of the country for the last few weeks.

Over a month ago, the torrential rains resulted in scores of deaths especially in West Pokot due to landslides that occurred as a because of the rains.

Over 30 people are reported to have lost their lives in West Pokot due to the extreme weather, statistics borne out by the Kenyan government.

The government has been issuing weather updates in a bid to alert Kenyans in case of extreme weather events beforehand.
