Andy Ruiz told members of the press after losing the overhyped bout that being overweight and months of partying were to blame for his dismal display in the ring.

"I should have trained harder. I should have listened to my team and coaches," he said as quoted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

"For this fight I was overweight. I didn't move how I wanted to, " he added.

Andy Ruiz is the second-heaviest boxer in the history of heavyweight boxing.

The scale read 20st 3lb when he weighed in.

There had been serious concerns over the impact that his lifestyle would have on his performance when he took Joshua on.

He admitted to engaging in too much partying.

"Three months of partying and celebrating affected me, what can I say? Being overweight, I wasn't fluid enough, I wasn't moving the way I wanted to move. I think if I'm lighter I'm going to let my hands go and be a completely different fighter," Ruiz said as quoted by the International Business Times.

He went on to say that he believed he could do much better if he gets another chance to fight Anthony Joshua.

Six months ago he shocked the boxing world after he beat Joshua in New York.
