The girls who are form two students at Makueni Girls' Secondary School were reportedly plotting to poison their target in a fight over a boyfriend before the plot was discovered.

Reports indicate that they were planning to use hydrochloric acid and benedicts solution stolen from the laboratory for the job, before their Monday arrest.

According to a report filed by the school Deputy Principal with the police, one of the girls was to put the poison in the target's food as the others watched out for her.

“(One of them) was to execute the plan by lacing victim’s lunch meal with one of the chemicals namely phenolphthalein indicator while the other two kept vigil,” the police report quoted by Citizen Digital reads.

However, fellow students allegedly caught wind of the plan after an argument ensued when one of the girls became fearful, after which the report got to a prefect who is said to have informed the Deputy Principal.

The teacher handed the girls to the police who took them to the Machakos Police Station.

However, they were later released after the school requested that the case be left to be handled internally.
