Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has not been in good terms with Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana since he vowed to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s errand boy. During the Kamorock meeting on Friday, Kalonzo’s supporters were seen carrying placards with the words Kibwana si Mkamba written on them.
It remains unclear who is behind the slogan as the rift between the two leaders widens. Kalonzo’s camp could be blackmailing Kibwana to make him appear an enemy of the Kamba nation.
Kibwana with his counterparts Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) have been faulting Kalonzo for allegedly failing his people. The three county bosses opine that Kalonzo has nothing to show the community even after rising to the position of Vice President.
Kalonzo has, however, rubbished the claims terming them baseless. The Ukambani political kingpin has now embarked on the mission to counter rebellion from the leaders opposed to his rule. He has hinted at forming a new political outfit before 2022 in order to think of his rise to power when that time comes.
He has maintained that he has what it takes to become the next Head of State. On his part, Kibwana opines that he cannot be forced to back any candidate for the top post in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
