Residents of Embu County were on Thursday treated to a scary scene after an unknown person dumped a snake at a church before driving off at high speed.
Residents who witnessed the incident said that the person, a suspected witchdoctor, dumped the puff adder outside Faith Keepers Church in Embu Town, before taking off.
Residents around the scene took off after the snake began slithering out of the gunny bag.
Witnesses said that the man pulled over by the roadside and threw out the gunny bag through the rear door of the car, which attracted people to check what was inside.
"We were shocked when we saw the snake emerging from the bag," said one Hussein Ali who is a security guard within the area.
However, the residents later regrouped and killed the snake. Police have already taken up the matter for investigations.
Detectives handling the matter have requested witnesses to record statements on the issue, as they seek to unravel possible reasons behind the abnormal happening.
The Kenyan law requires you to have a permit by KWS to handle such animals.
