Speaking on Saturday at Misyani, Kangundo sub-county, celebrated Captain Irene Koki noted that there are parents who push their kids to live their (parents') dreams.

"The children have dreams of their own, and parents should stop pushing the kids to live their dreams for them, saying that they want them to be so and so," said Koki.

Koki said that kids should be allowed to follow their passion in life, and pursue courses they so wish.

She said that mentorship programmes should not focus on pushing students to score A's and B's, but should also accommodate those below that, citing that there are a lot of opportunities out there.

"There should be no limitations at all because out there a lot of opportunities exist. For example, in aviation its not a must for one to be a pilot, you can do cabin crew, air hostess and many more," she noted.

Captain Koki spoke at a mentorship clinic organised by an organisation called I choose Life Africa at Misyani Girls High School.

The programme brought together professionals from the county, and the country at large.

Leaders present included; Machakos County Assembly Speaker Florence Mwangangi, Kangundo Member of Parliament Fabian Muli, among others.
