Euniah Moraa is alleged to have sought the services of a witchdoctor who in turn, gave her some herbs-'kamuti' which she used to snatch Gladys Nyabonyi's husband-Zachariah Orero.

Nyabonyi claimed that her husband has not been sleeping at home. This, she said, prompted her to share her woes with villagers as she suspected Moraa used underhand means to get Orero.

“Euniah’s husband died 3 years and she decided to use a concoction to trap my husband to inherit her. For the last 6 months, my husband abandoned me and our 4 kids and he has been living with her,” said Nyabonyi in regard to the Tuesday evening incident at Manga in Nyamira County.

Nyabonyi said she reported the husband to villagers who raided Moraa’s home and found the two.

“We found Orero at the kitchen with Moraa who was preparing supper. We kicked them out and questioned Orero why he has abandoned his family to live at Moraa’s home. Orero revealed that he doesn’t know why he left his home,” said a local Julius Omete.

Omete said the widowed woman was thoroughly caned before she revealed that she used 'kamuti' to woo Orero.

Area assistant chief, Fredrick Onyoni said the widowed woman was rescued from the beating by Nyumba Kumi officials.

“It is shameful that Moraa used concoction to keep someone’s husband in her house. I hope the beating she got she is not going to repeat the same thing,” he said.

He urged men not to abandon their wives and children to live with other women who may end up abandoning them after a few months.
