The police, who was later identified as Job Anyona and his accomplices are currently in police cell as they wait for their arraignment in court.

According to the DCI, Anyona and his co-accused, robbed a man of Sh20,000.

"Constable Job Anyona of Railways Police Station and three other civilians, all suspects of robbery with violence, were yesterday arrested having robbed a man Sh20,000 within Nairobi Town after a false arrest, and forcing him to withdraw all his savings at a KCB ATM booth," DCI tweeted.

Reports from the investigative agency indicate that the man was robbed after attending a graduation ceremony  at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

"The victim, a car hire driver was attending a relative's graduation at a KMTC when the gang of four all purporting to be police officers handcuffed him, took his phone and car keys, before demanding for Sh30,000 for his release.

"The gang could not release him after giving the Sh20,000 he had, forcing him to borrow the balance from friends through Mpesa. Spotting a Chief Inspector of Police nearby, the victim rushed to him for help, as the gang started fleeing on separate ways but were cornered and arrested by members of the public," said detectives.

The chief inspector requested for reinforcement, after which the four suspects were later arrested.

"The officer sort aid from Capital Hill Detectives who upon search recovered two mobile phones, cash Sh50,140, damaged police pocket phone and handcuffs from the suspects. All placed in custody and to be charged accordingly. The DCI congratulates the public for joining hands in fighting crime" DCI added.
