Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i ordered the closure of all bars over the weekend to facilitate a smooth national census process.
“We are going to going close all our social places especially the bars at 5 pm to give you an hour to be home before the enumerators arrive at 6 pm so that they can find you at home ,” CS Matiang'i said at Embu Stadium on Wednesday during the official opening of 10th edition of the Water Services Companies Games in Embu County.
However, the message was not welcomed by some alcohol lovers.
Some lovers of the bottle from Busia on Thursday responded to the directive by revealing their alternatives.
A section Busia residents who love the bottle have vowed to visit Uganda to enjoy themselves over the census period
"Busia alcohol lovers have not been affected in any way due to our proximity to Uganda. We drink there. Even if they said we close bars, we are not stressed because those far from the border are the ones who will suffer. (Sisi kama walevi wa Busia haijatuaffect popote kwa sababu sisi tuko karibu na Uganda. Tunakunywa pombe hapo. Sasa hata sisi walisema tufunge vilabu sisi hutuna stress yoyote. Hap watu wa huko juu ndio wataumia)," said one of the Busia residents as reported by K24.
