The girl's parents had reportedly taken her to the station so that she can be disciplined.

Kilifi North police commander Njoroge Ngigi has confirmed the incident, adding that the girl's parents have already recorded a statement over the same.

"We want to look into the allegations by the girl and thereafter follow the procedures. Currently, she has been rescued," Ngigi said.

According to the girl, her parents and uncle told her to board a bike, but never told her where they were headed, only to end up in a police station.

She was later locked, and was expected to stay in custody until the following day.

According to her, one of the officers at the station kept visiting her cell and moving her from one room to another.

"At the police station a police officer kept on ordering me to move from one place to the other. My parents talked with the officer and he told them that I would spend the night at the police station and that they should come very early in the morning so that they could take me to hospital for medical tests...,” she said.

She further noted that at one point, the officer attempted to harass her sexually, but she disagreed.

“He asked me to pull up my T-shirt so that he could see my breasts but I refused. He told me that no one would catch us. He went and came back again and opened the door and entered the cell and grabbed me, pulled my T-shirt up...,” she said.

Speaking after the incident, her parents said police should investigate the matter, and charge the said officer, adding that all they wanted was for their girl to change her ways.
