The lawmaker has insisted that there was no marriage, contrary to Kitony's claims that the relationship began in 2014, which forced her to provide proof on Tuesday.

The embattled lady on Tuesday played a video of their marriage in court, in a wedding that was guided by Meru and Nandi traditions, as she insisted that they are legally married.

The court also heard that the lawmaker, who evicted Kitony from his house in Runda in Nairobi, even paid for her dowry.

Linturi who moved to the High Court on January 10 says that he is married to one Mercy Kaimenyi whom he married in 2005 in a wedding at the Tigania Catholic Parish in Meru.

He said that Kitony was only in his house as a visitor and “that’s why she was evicted when she claimed that she is married," even as Kitony claimed that they lived in her house before relocating to Runda together.

Linturi rubbished papers presented in court suggesting that she divorced Kaimenyi, claiming that they were forged by Kitony to ground his attempts to push her out.

The case is set to proceed on Wednesday at the Milimani Law Court.
