Siaya Senator James Orengo has reassured President Uhuru Kenyatta of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party's complete support for his political moves.

Speaking on Thursday, the lawmaker said that ODM will protect Uhuru with regards to his 2018 truce with the party leader Raila Odinga from opposing forces fighting the handshake.

He also assured Jubilee Party secretary general Raphael Tuju, who has been under fire from forces allied to Deputy President William Ruto of his safety and protection from the Raila camp.

The group has accused him of undermining the DP, only weeks after he was heard mocking Ruto in a leaked phone conversation, allegedly with former Limuru MP George Nyanja.

Speaking in the presence of the former Rarieda MP, Orengo told Tuju, who has declared full support for the Uhuru-Raila handshake, not to be shaken as they (ODM) brigade have his back.

"As the Jubilee Secretary-General, don't be shaken or distracted. We are with you and the president in the push for a new democratic wave or transition to a government of national unity," he was quoted by the Standard.

He made tye remarks during the official opening of Kipaji Talent Centre in Rarieda.

He reminded Tuju that those who have been pushing for his resignation over his dalliance with the opposition are not the appointing authority.

Other present leaders included MPs Elisha Odhiambo, Samuel Atandi (Alego Usonga) and Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo.

Amollo stressed on the need for constitutional changes which he said will help realize the push for inclusive appointments to state positions.
