Speaking at a thanks-giving event at Arabian Cuisine in Nairobi, Abdi chose to extend an olive branch to his predecessor.

He said that he will not achieve his agenda in office if he doesn’t get the support of the residents and other leaders including the former county boss.

"I call upon every Wajir residents including my competitors to join hands with me and build our county, we want to lobby for mega projects from the health sector, infrastructure boost to boost our region," said Abdi.

Justices Mohammed Smokin Wanjala, Ibrahim, Njoki Ndungu and Jackton Ojwang ruled that the win of the county boss is valid as announced by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which acted as the fourth respondent in the case.

The four-judge bench overturned the earlier ruling of the Court of Appeal that had nullified Abdi’s win over his academic papers.

Chief Justice David Maraga and Justice Isaac Lenaola said that they had taken into account that a degree is a requirement for one to contest for the governorship seat in any general election.

The supporters of the county boss broke into songs and dance moments after the announcement was made at the Supreme Court.

Abdi decided to seek legal redressed at the Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal upheld the ruling by Justice Alfred Mabeya that nullified Abdi’s win over lack of academic papers.

Abdi had to wait longer to know the fate of his win despite beating several candidates during the exercise.

The other candidates who were part of the contest included Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamad, Ahmed Muhumed Abdi, and Gichohi Gatuma Patrick.
