Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his co-accused are set to appear in court on October 23 for their pretrial in the murder case of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Obado, his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and county clerk Casper Obiero are set to know their fate when they appear before Justice Jessie Lesiit. The suspects had appeared before Justice Stella Mutuku on Thursday but were referred back to Lesiit for the pretrial.

The three have been directed to present themselves before the court in two weeks' time, reports the Daily Nation.

The governor and his alleged accomplishes have maintained that they were not involved in the brutal murder of Sharon and her unborn baby on the night of September 3 and 4, 2018. 

The prosecution has accused the trio of committing the crime at Owade in Rachuonyo Sub-County, in Homa Bay County. 

DNA results confirmed that the governor was responsible for Sharon's pregnancy. The second term governor was freed after he was granted a cash bail of Sh5 million and two sureties of Sh5 million each. 

The family of Sharon Otieno has decried delayed justice and wants the matter handled with urgency to ensure they get justice for their daughter.
