A request handed over to organisers of Brack Obama's tour in his ancestral home by Western Economic Bloc governors for a special meeting has been declined.

Instead, the governors will only be allowed to join the former US president at the launch of Sauti Kuu Foundation, whose proprietor is Auma Obama, step-sister to Mr. Obama.

Nyamira County Speaker Moffat Teya, who doubles as spokesperson of the bloc, said the tight schedule precipitated organisers to lock them out.

"Preparations started long time ago and our formal request was not admitted. Oraganisers have instead directed us to join him in podium.

"Our timing was a little bit wanting but next time we shall ensure that we move with speed and bring him on the table," he told the reporter.

Obama's jet landed in Kisumu on Monday morning and he traveled by road to his father's home, Kogello, an hour drive from the lakeside city.

Only Governor Anyang' Nyong'o was privileged to meet the former president for a one on one meeting upon landing in Kisumu.
