Just on Friday, a lifeless body of a policewoman, Hellen Kwamboka, attached to the Parliament buildings was found lying in her residence in Umoja estate.

Barely a week ago, another lifeless body of a 24-year-old Pauline Wangari, female prison warden was found in Kiharu estate. As if this is not enough, on April 10, 2019, another body of Caroline Chepchirchir, a prison warder was found lying in a thicket in Githioro village of Subukia raising the number to three.

The question that now comes forth is, who are these people determined to wipe out our female officers in uniform?

In two of the above murder cases, the prime suspects have been identified as boyfriends to the deceased officers. This, alone, further complicates the issue given the fact that the National Police Service (NPS) does not regulate officers' private lives.

With this in mind, the Police Service should seek to strengthen and ease access to counselling services to help officers deal with their private affairs to curb further incidences of household murders.

Failure, more of our women in uniform will continue losing their lives in silence.
