Moments after he took a move considered an attempt to further step on the toes of his deputy William Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta has been persuaded to stop the offensive.

The latest leader to speak on the same was Laikipia Senator John Kinyua who on Wednesday termed the elevation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i as an insult on Ruto.

Uhuru on Tuesday picked the latter to head the newly constituted National Development Implementation and Communication Committee.

But Kinyua has faulted the President for what he termed snatching away Ruto's mandate and handing it over to the no-nonsense CS, urging him to cease humiliating the DP.

"Ruto is very capable and has always been in charge of development supervision. Let Uhuru not humiliate him by taking away the privilege," said the Senator.

Kinyua was speaking in an interview on Radio Citizen's Mjadala Wa Citizen, only hours after Matiangi was named a super CS to whom the rest will answer to.

The Senator added that the DP has always been at hand to do his job in the right way and his apparent demotion only brings out malicious intents.

"The new job given to Matiangi has always been done by the DP. I do not understand why it had to be taken away," he added.

Ruto has been crisscrossing the nation lately in what he has termed supervising the government's development agenda.

However, he might have it hard doing it going forward following the new directive.
