It is reported that that suspect, an illicit brew brewer, attacked Metipzoo Assistant Chief Ezekiel Kibor with a machete on Thursday, after the administrator raided his den.

The administrator said that he was also assaulted by another person in the scuffle, an incident that happened after he mounted a crackdown at the suspect's operation area.

“I went to the brewer’s house at around 6 am after I got reports that he had chased away a village elder who had gone to warn him about his illicit trade. In the house, I found him brewing the liquor. It is when he attacked me with a machete," said the chief as reported by The Standard.

The administrator spoke from his hospital bed at the Kapsowar Mission Hospital where he was rushed to, adding that he was assaulted by a second person while attempting to wrestle the machete from the assailant.

The incident was confirmed by Elgeyo Marakwet county commander Ahmed Omar, who however faulted the chief for raiding the den without police protection.

“Police officers are in hot pursuit of the suspect and his accomplice believed to be his brother,” he said.

The chief said that the suspect is a notorious illicit brew dealer in the region.
