Pressure continues to pile on Deputy President William Ruto over his attitude in the fight against corruption, with leaders mainly from Mt Kenya accusing him of intimidating DCI George Kinoti.
A section of leaders from Gusii on Sunday asked the DP to take his own cross, accusing him of undermining state institutions mandated to fight corruption.
Led by Senator Sam Ongeri at Nyamira, they insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta will always get their support on graft war given his determination to eradicate the vice.
"If you stole, carry your own cross. Arm twisting DCI will not help you out. Just get used to the system and support the war against corruption. It seems someone is guilty thus intimidating the DCI," said Ongeri.
Senator Okong'o Mogeni added:"The law is very clear. If you steal, don't hide in the community. Allow DCI to do his job properly. We shall stand with the President in this war. You're on your own, better get back on track."
Dr Ruto has often accused DCI George Kinoti of allegedly being used by State House mandarins to taint his name on the pretext of fight against corruption. He has also accused Raila Odinga of engineering the war.
Governor John Nyagarama said DCI and DPP should be given time to unearth corruption scandals in government. He also advised Ruto's team to be tolerant.
"We need tolerance for us to move forward. It's important to know that corruption doesn't spare any tribe. If am corrupt, don't defend me because am governor. Instead, let me face justice," he added.
