In his address, Sonko reminded his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu to concentrate on empowering the taxpayers rather than sideshows.

The first-term governor said that he is ready to ensure that the resources of public benefit everyone and asked Waititu not to waste money on handouts at the expense of the pressing needs of the people of Kiambu.

Sonko who is a former Senator of Nairobi also said that he is fully behind President Uhuru Kenyatta’s big four agenda.

He assured the residents that he will talk to Waituti over different issues affecting them.

“Mimi nimesikia watu wawili watatu wanasema hapa mahustler hamna kazi. Mi najua hiyo. Tutaangalia kwa hii mambo ya job creation ya Big Four agenda ya Rais nitahakikisha watu wa hapa pia inawafikia. Mi najua labda rafiki yangu gavana amewasahau kidogo. Lakini sisi tutamtafuta pia tumwambie hiyo pesa ambayo anapea watu wa Kumikumi iwafikie pia nyinyi," Sonko said.

This is loosely translated to: "I have heard two or three people in your midst lamenting about the lack of jobs. And I know that. We will examine this issue of job creation in line with the Big Four Agenda by the President. I will make sure that the people of this region also benefit from the same. I know maybe my colleague has forgotten you but we will look for him and also tell him that the handouts he has been giving also reach you.”

The visit comes days after he made a visit to Machakos County. The tour came after his Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua blasted him for what he termed as ignoring the statures of Independence heroes.
