This is after the hospital's morgue refused to release the foetus for burial.

The family had arrived at the morgue  to collect the 7-month-old foetus for interment after a one day postponement, since the initial burial ceremony had been scheduled for Thursday.

The management of the hospital, however, maintained that the family had to produce a Death Notification Form from a pathologist for them to release the body. This took six hours.

"This matter is sensitive. We need the form to enable us release the body. We cannot release it without the document,” a morgue staff told the Standard.

This culminated to a standoff, forcing the police to step in and cool the situation as mourners grew impatient.

Sharon's mother, Melinda Ouma intervened by contacting a CID officer who liaised with a pathologist who conducted the post morterm and had the document forwarded through WhatsApp.

The burial finally took place in Homa Bay -  at the home of Samuel Odenge, Sharon's paternal grandfather.

The slain second-year Medical Records student was abducted last week on Monday in Migori before her badly mutilated body was found at Kodera forest in Oyugis, Homa Bay County.

Michale Oyamo, the P.A to Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been arrested. He is currently locked up at Muthaiga Police Station in Nairobi.

Obado was romantically involved with Sharon. Before her death, she alleged that the Governor was responsible for her pregnancy.
