Even though their brand of comedy was more of 'hadithi ya Abunuwasi' (Abunuwasi tales), listeners of Kameme FM, the then only Gikuyu FM station, could not dare miss any of their comical episodes.

However, Githingithia and Njaramba as they were popularly known, were soon to be eclipsed by another batch of youthful and energetic comedians that came with a different brand of comedy that was more appealing to the Gikuyu audience.

The comedians who are still active today include the likes of Mzee Kihenjo, Man Solo Papa, Kiere, Cucu Nyakairu among many others.

So, where are these two veteran comedians who set the pace for Kikuyu radio comedy?

Well, for Githingithia who also goes by the name 'Dumeniko', is still active on the radio but doing different stuff.

Today, Githingithia has become an established freelance voice-over artist where he voices various radio adverts that airs across Kikuyu radio stations.

He also owns a recording studio based in Thika town that among other things is involved in music and advert production. Dumeniko also had a show on Inooro TV where he used to educate viewers on traditional Gikuyu oral literature.

The heavily-built Githingithia also doubles as an MC and is usually invited to preside over big events happening across Gikuyuland.

As for Njaramba, little can be said about him since he left radio. Nevertheless, you will hear his voice alongside Githingithia's in radio adverts from time to time.

Those who know him say he took a backseat after radio to concentrate on farming, business among other things.

In conclusion, the two will always be remembered for pioneering Kikuyu radio comedy where many established and upcoming comedians have launched their careers.
