Last week, Uhuru rejected Finance Bill outlining various proposals including 8% VAT instead of 16% that treasury had proposed.

Led by Kitutu Chache South's Richard Onyonka, the MPs warned that they will reject Uhuru's proposals in wholesale on Thursday.

"The proposals are inciting people against us. We shall protect their interests no matter what. The president has lost this one," he said.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati added: "It is better he goes back to kitchen. We can't accept such draconian memorandum. People must come first."

In his statement, Uhuru insisted that the proposal was a 'win-win' for government and people since money is needed to undertake projects.

But Onyonka, a third term MP, said the proposal was unwelcome and would be defeated.

"Government knows about ghost projects and other ways they can reduce spending. But they can't just hide in the proposal to burden people."
