Jalang'o has disclosed that what seemed a joke during the morning show at Hot 96 FM, earned him a phone call later in the evening from the public relations firm that was organising the event.

The event that was graced by Barrack Obama when he visited his ancestral home at Kogelo in Siaya County on Monday saw him launch the Sauti Kuu Resource Centre. The resource centre had been initiated by his sister Auma Obama to help educate locals about utilising their talents.

Jalang'o had in the morning joked that he will be emceeing Obama's event only to receive a phone call from the managing director of Gina Din Events Lorna Irungu who began the telephone conversation by asking him whether “he knew some dreams do come true”.

Ms Irungu went ahead to break the good news that the firm had been tasked to oversee Obama's public relations in Kenya had they had picked him(Jalang'o) to emcee the event.

“Sometimes what you say is powerful because you never know who is watching or listening, the tongue is very powerful,” Jalang’o told Citizen Extra.

He noted that he was nervous because he was not sure if he would be able to handle such a big event.

Jalang'o further revealed that Obama recognised and appreciated the work he was doing as a comedian and emcee.

“Obama held my hand as he was coming to the stage and patted me on my shoulder and told me good job and I said thank you Mr President,” revealed Jalang'o.
