The handshake between Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the renewed war on corruption are the major issues threatening to tear the ruling party apart.

To heighten the tension in the governing outfit, politicians from Mount Kenya region have hatched a plan to punish Deputy President William Ruto whom they accuse of allegedly disrespecting his boss.

Under the caucus of Mt Kenya Leaders Forum which is led by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda, the politicians now want the President to stop delegating duties to his deputy over alleged insurbodination.

Speaking to Sunday Nation, Kamanda accused Ruto of using public functions to contradict the Head of State, most notably on the war on corruption.

He quoted the recent Devolution Conference where the DP accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti of 'biased' investigations, two days after Uhuru praised him and asked Kenyans to report corruption cases to him (at Karura).

“We are going to petition the President to delegate Cabinet Secretaries to preside over functions he cannot attend. We cannot allow individuals he delegates to open or close functions associated with him to continue contradicting him at every turn," Kamanda said.

The veteran politician went ahead to state; "Some things are untenable. When the President expresses confidence in institutions like the DCI, only for his deputy to contradict him, something has gone terribly wrong."
