Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka said he supports fully President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to have all houses constructed on riparian lands.

“I have no problem in the ongoing demolition of houses constructed on riparian lands. Elected leaders should join hands and help President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight cartels who purchase riparian lands and construct houses,” he said on Sunday in Kisii

Bungoma County Senator Moses Wetangula on Saturday, while speaking at Kegonga area in Kuria East, Migori County, lauded Uhuru for maintaining that illegal structures must be demolished.

“I am happy that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not siding. He wants all houses on riparian lands to be demolished. This shows that he is ready to end corruption in this country. He, therefore, qualifies for my support in dealing with cartels in this country,” said Wetangula.

Kenya National Congress party chairman Atati Kengere said the ongoing demolition of houses built in these areas is good for the country since cartels will stop purchasing land illegally.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta should ignore some individuals who want him to reverse his decision on the demolition of houses. The houses must be brought down," he said.
